About the United Planning Organization (UPO)

Since 1962, the United Planning Organization has supported the District of Columbia by uniting people and opportunities. Known as UPO throughout Washington, our partnerships provide district residents with the tools and education needed to improve their lives and our community.

Our Vision   The United Planning Organization's vision is to secure self-reliance and empowerment for all Washington, DC communities.

 Our Mission   The mission of the United Planning Organization is to improve the quality of life for Washington, DC citizens by providing community resources, services and partnerships to aid low income residents in the development of self-sufficiency through education and sustained employment.

Our Promise  Community action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

Anacostia

The Anacostia Community Service Center provides a wide range of services and activities for individuals and families residing in Wards 6, 7 & 8 including education, housing, emergency services, youth development, basic computer skills, Microsoft Word training and food handling certification classes.
