On Friday, September 10 Anacostia businesses, organizations, and attractions came together to showcase what makes them a great place to “eat, shop, and live”. The amount of hard work and community spirit that it took to put on such an event was significant and everyone did a wonderful job. One of the best things besides all of the wonderful stores and presentations that participated in the “(re)Discover Anacostia” tour was the sense of community, especially that of the Anacostia young people.
Prior to the “Big Reveal” preview and community event student volunteers from the Academies at Anacostia, Thurgood Marshall Academy and the United Planning Organization worked as reSPIN PR interns stuffing gift bags, organization supplies, and setting up event space. Several Anacostia student volunteers also contributed their time and efforts to work the Big Reveal event on Friday, September 10 as Community Ambassadors, Check-in Coordinators, gift bag distributors, and event coordinators. They also worked hard signing members up for the Eat Shop Live Anacostia incentive cards. The student interns worked hard were charismatic, and respectful. They were a great representation of Anacostia youth and they represented their schools well!
The ESLA interns were invaluable and we give them a big Thanks!” Go Team!
