The Academies at Anacostia: A place for learning!

With tougher academic standards, more rigorous course load, and an emphasis on student accountability, students and parents will notice a big difference in the way we are doing things. To better serve the student population we've divided the school into four academies. Frederick Douglass Academy
Sojourner Truth Academy
Matthew Henson Academy
Charles Drew Academy

Most students who are currently enrolled became part of the Frederick Douglass Academy. The new freshman class that enrolled in the 2009-2010 school year was split into two groups and became the Sojourner Truth Academy and the Charles Drew Academy. A select group of current students who need extra scholastic help or are behind in their studies will be brought up-to-speed at the Matthew Henson Academy. Together, the qualities of the individuals for whom we have named The Academies at Anacostia embody our school's core values.
