SEPT 7 | Local 11th St Bridge Celebration - Free Event!

Join the celebration on Sat, September 3rd!

Save the date for a celebration on the Local 11th Street Bridge commemorating the District Department of Transportation’s decade of transportation advancements and the full opening of the local bridge to two-way traffic, bicyclists and pedestrians.

This free, family-friendly event will take place on Sat, September 7, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

ABOUT HISTORIC ANACOSTIA

Historic Anacostia is a neighborhood in Ward 8 located in Washington, D.C.

Incorporated in 1854 as "Uniontown" the neighborhood was one of the first suburbs in the District of Columbia. The name "Anacostia" comes from an early settlement of Necostan or Anacostan Indians who lived on the banks of the Anacostia River.

"The core of the Anacostia historic district was incorporated in 1854 and is approximately 20 squares.
