In Pictures | LUMEN8Anacostia Temporium Site Tour

On Saturday, Feb 4, 2012 ARCH Development Corporation hosted a tour of the proposed locations for the LUMENAnacostia temoporiums and answered questions about the Calls for Artists. Over 50 people came out to Anacostia to learn more about the LUMEN8Anacostia project and how to apply for a grant.

LUMEN8Anacostia is made possible from a grant from ArtPlace America and the support of the DC Office of Planning.

ABOUT HISTORIC ANACOSTIA

Historic Anacostia is a neighborhood in Ward 8 located in Washington, D.C.

Incorporated in 1854 as "Uniontown" the neighborhood was one of the first suburbs in the District of Columbia. The name "Anacostia" comes from an early settlement of Necostan or Anacostan Indians who lived on the banks of the Anacostia River.

"The core of the Anacostia historic district was incorporated in 1854 and is approximately 20 squares.
