Keeping Our Neighbors Informed and Involved in the Social Happenings of Our Community
Monthly Meeting Reminder
September 12, 2013
See You Thursday!
Can you believe Summer is about over? In a busy community like Ward 8 time really flies. Be sure to enjoy the warm weather while it last. We would like to invite you to our monthly community meeting this Thursday that includes a comprehensive agenda, which includes:
Councilmember David Grosso:
Councilmember Grosso has taken a special interest in our neighborhood. We have invited him to stop by to chat about his Property Tax Legislation, Ketcham Elementary School and other Greater Anacostia initiatives.
Ketcham Elementary School:
The school year has started and Ketcham Elementary has a new principal. We have invited Principal Maisha Riddlesprigger to introduce herself to the neighborhood and let us know how we can create a community partnership.
Crowd Funding:
We've talked for a while about pooling our resources to start a neighborhood business. A presentation will be given on how we can make it a reality. After all, who knows better of what our neighborhood needs other than the folks who live here.
Historic Preservation Review Board:
Is historic preservation important to our neighborhood? Of course it is. We are the only historic district East of the River. Meet members of the Historic Preservation Review Board to discuss their role and how we can get more involved in the sustainability of our community.
Transit Police:
Neighborhood and metro crime is always a top priority for us. Let's have a chat with our transit police officers to discuss solutions on how to make our neighborhood safer.
Please invite your friends, family, and neighbors to the meeting on Thursday September 12th! The meeting will be held at the Anacostia UPO Center located at 1649 Good Hope Rd., SE. The meeting will begin at 7pm.
Thanks, HABA Board

I'm new to the neighborhood. Can anyone come to this meeting?
