The next BIG thing in Anacostia...brand new office space!

As first reported by Jonathan Neibauer in the Washington Business Journal the site of the former police warehouse located at 2235 Shannon Place SE is going to be transformed into 82,000 square feet of Class A office space.  Readers may recall this warehouse was used for the kick-off parties for LUMEN8ANACOSTIA 2012 and 2013.

Four Points LLC is handling the redevelopment of the building, owned by Curtis Investment Group. Already the building is leased out by three government agencies: DC Taxicab Commission, DDOT, and the DC Lottery.

The renovation of the entire project is expected to last 12 months. This new project will join the Anacostia Playhouse as another exciting addition to Shannon Place SE.

In Pictures: Photography Comes To MLK & Good Hope

On Saturday, volunteers from the Ward 8 community and ARCH Development Corporation staff spent the day installing twenty art panels on the fences at the corner of Good Hope Rd SE and MLK Jr. Ave SE and on the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, SE. The purpose of the beautification project was to bring art to the community while combating blight.  The project was made possible by a partnership of the ARCH Development Corporation, Four Points LLC, and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development.

The images used for the panels came from East of the River artists or highlighted East of the River subjects.  Printing was done by Anacostia's own  Vivid Solutions DC Print Lab (2208 MLK, Jr. Ave SE).

The best news? There is plenty of room for more panels! If your organization or business is interested in sponsoring more art panels for these locations or others contact Andrea Hope at ahope@archdc.org.

A true team effort.

WASHPO: Anacostia building to get a new look

More exciting news! Anacostia just keeps getting better and better.

Go HERE to read the full article in the Washington Post.

Excerpt:

Located near Anacostia’s downtown area and its Metrorail station, the Shannon Place building overlooks Interstate 295, Anacostia Park and the Anacostia River. Shortly after the police department’s lease expires in September and the police move elsewhere, Curtis and Four Points plan a $25 million makeover that will turn the warehouse into a glass-and-steel-encased, LEED-certified four-story office building with a fifth-story penthouse.
Four Points, which is developing the mixed-use Progression Place project in the Northwest neighborhood of Shaw, began marketing the Anacostia building through Jones Lang LaSalle earlier this summer, said Stan Voudrie, a principal at Four Points.
